tokay projectThe vineyards of the company IN VINO TOKAY in the Tokay region are part of the best known group of Tokay vineyards in Slovakia – Lastovičie. This area has a light and stony soil on a volcanic base with acidic cambisols. The company has planted the traditional Tokay varieties on the lower slopes of the Zemplin hills – Furmint, Lipovina and Yellow Muscat. The vineyard named VIERA with a current area of around 15 ha has been blessed by the parish priest and is in the cadastral territory of the village of Malá Tŕňa. Over the winter 2010–2011, the company plans to plant a further 10 ha of new vineyards on the border between the villages of Malá Tŕňa and Veľká Tŕňa in the Keska and Fazekaš groups of vineyards. The project’s goal is to build a modern winery complex with administrative and accommodation facilities. Underground will be excavated tasting rooms and classical tufa cellars with permanent temperature and humidity providing perfect conditions for wine storage in wooden barriques. The Tufa cellars will also provide micro clime cellar mildew which is a crucial part in the production of quality Tokay wine. |
